are among the nine honorees who are slated to receive 2015 Trumpet Awards.
The Trumpet Awards honor African American achievers and those who support the African American experience.
Hilfiger got his start in fashion in Elmira with the People’s Place on Main Street. Vickers was a childhood friend of Hilfiger’s.
The ceremony, to be held in Atlanta on Jan. 24, will be televised on Feb. The real request came from Natsue Kobayashi for a family in Elmira who signed up for holiday help but was forgotten. Graham Sale was 10 years old at the time.
Sale said his mother, Virginia Sale, was involved in community outreach programs in Elmira, like Second Place East and The Neighborhood House.
