Adams County 4 H members and leaders were honored at the annual Adams County 4 H Leaders Banquet and Achievement Night at the Agriculture Natural Resources Center in Gettysburg.

Memorial awards were presented to the following 4 H teen members: Jalesha Hess, Gettysburg, received the Clue Meyerhoffer Award, Mrs. Edward Snyder Clothing Award, and Olwyn Weant Fashion Revue Award;

Abigail Lawrence, Littlestown, received the Olwyn Weant Fashion Revue Award; Kristen Feeser, New Oxford, received the Larry Feeser, Sr. Swine Award; Jocelyn Riser, Gettysburg, received the Rose Murren Leadership Award; Elizabeth Ryan, Fairfield, received the Robert Lott Leadership Award; Daniel Stoner, Gettysburg, received the Frederick J. Rarig Conservation Award and John Myers Camp Award; Amber Woerner, Fairfield, received the William Miller Award; Andrew Klunk, Hanover, received the ABC Williams Leadership Award; and Ashley Smith, New Oxford, received the Lois Smith Gardening Award.

Also presented to 4 H members during the banquet were the Adams County 4 H National Recognition Awards. The awards are based on a member’s comprehensive record of activities in 4 H, current 4 H involvement, and their excellence within a specific program area. Senior Recognition Award winners were: Justin Klunk, Abbottstown; Hannah Riser, Gettysburg; Jalesah Hess, Gettysburg; Kristen Feeser, New Oxford; and Andrew Klunk, Hanover. Award winners received pins representing the area of interest.

Retiring 4 H members and eleven year members were: Bridget Donnelly and Jocelyn Riser. Andrew Klunk is retiring with eight years and Ashley Smith is retiring with four years of 4 H participation.

Ten year 4 H members recognized were Cailee Bower, Gardners; Daniel Stoner, Gettysburg; Hannah Riser, Gettysburg, Rachel Stoner, East Berlin, and Katelin Young, Gettysburg.

The “I Dare You” Leadership Award was presented to five 4 H teens for excellence in character, balanced personal development, and leadership potential. Receiving the “I Dare You” book awards were Jennifer Hollabaugh, East Berlin; Kaitlyn Repp, Samuel Shea, Johnny Hess, and Aaron Spangler, all of Gettysburg.

Teens recognized for completing the Teen Leader project and receiving teen leader pins were Danny Stoner, Gettysburg, 3rd year; Elizabeth Ryan, Fairfield; and Lauren Brough, Aspers.

4 H volunteer leaders in attendance received acknowledgment and a gift for their dedicated years of service to the 4 H program. Elizabeth Fair received a bronze clover pin for her first year of service. Wendy Stoner received a silver clover pin for five years of service. Larry Fesser, Jr. was recognized with a gold clover pin for ten years of service. And 15 year leader Christine Myers was recognized with a pearl clover pin and a plaque. Abe Bucher and Kim Black were recognized for 20 years of service with a diamond clover pin and plaque. Volunteer leaders Gerald Livelsberger Bertha Ludwig were acknowledged for 30 years of service with a ruby clover pin and 4 H coolers. Joanne Clowney and Shirley Heltibridle were recognized for 45 years of service with 4 H pottery pitchers and emerald clover pins. Carol Rex was honored for 50 years of service with a 4 H director’s chair and a ruby clover pin.

Kathy Raber, 4 H Seeing Eye Puppy Club, received the Partner in 4 H Volunteer Award. Ron Carol Woolcock of Mannings Handweaving, East Berlin, received the Business Partner in 4 H Award for their continuous support of the Adams County 4 H program and East Berlin 4 H Fiber Club. Laura Klunk, 4 H Organizational Leader in the Adams County New Oxford 4 H Club received the Distinguished 4 H Leader Award.

Tom Marr Peggy Clowney, 4 H Board members, were recognized for completing two terms on the board. They will receive framed certificates for their years of service and a pen set. Re elected to serve a three year term on the 4 H Clubs of Adams County, Inc. Board of Directors were Amy Welker and Abe Bucher.

The York Springs 4 H Club provided table decorations. Special thanks to Stoney Point Farm Market, Littlestown, caterers for the banquet. And to the Leaders Banquet Planning Committee: Donna Livelsberger, Wendy Stoner, Laura Klunk, Lori Hottenstein and 4 H Educator Darlene Resh who coordinated the evening’s festivities.
