Angela used to be in the foster care system.
“I always talk about the stress of being moved out of my house,” said Angela. “I do miss my family a little bit but now I have my new one. When I first left the house,
I was terrified. I didn’t know what was going on.”
She still has the purple teddy bear given to her during tough times growing up. “It was a beautiful moment for me because he was my best friend. I wasn’t very social when I was little. I went through Hurricane Katrina with him in Mississippi. We’ve been through a lot together. It’s really wonderful that I still have him.”
The Rowe family adopted Angela. They plan to do the same for three infants who were moving around in the living room during our interview. They’re foster kids right now.
“Every child deserves a second chance,” said Angela. “They shouldn’t suffer the consequences of their own parents’ actions. They didn’t choose it.”
