Watch report:Group collects money to send 800 pairs of shoes across country”Most of us (have) three, four, five pairs,” said Andy Bernard, lead pastor at Thrive Church. “These kids have worn through shoes. There’s just not a lot of hope in the area.
“We won’t be able to bring the shoes to those kids,” Bernard said. “And they’re expecting it. They’re waiting for it.”They’re thinking, ‘Hey, what’s going on? We could really use this help.'”KCRA 3 made multiple phone calls to the moving company and did not hear back Thursday night.
However, on Friday, the Alliance Moving Services Dispatch Team sent in a statement:
“We are sorry to hear about the children that were unable to receive the donated goods on time. We apologize for that. We are experiencing some delays with two of the delivery trucks. As per the motor carrier handling the delivery, the goods are to be delivered within the next 7 days. We understand the frustration from Anne, whom is the one that set up the move with us. We want to make our apology very clear to public and to all the parties involved.
“We also want the public to know that although this delay has caused some sentimental hardship to others, the delays that we are experiencing are not with any malicious intent. Unfortunately delays is something we come across and have to work through in our industry as we are in the middle of peak season for household relocations. We don’t expect these delay sometimes, they just happen, but the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Department of Transportation whom govern and regulate our industry allow the motor carrier to delivery goods within 21 business days. This is stated in the agreement the customer signed as well. We want it to be clear that there is no wrong doing here, or any illegal activity either. We are just experiencing some delays. We apologize.”The group is not associated with the larger Soles 4 Soles charity.
